Three Pillows
Did you notice the pillow in the photo? About a decade ago, I purchased three of them, all exactly the same. One I am looking at in my office as I type this note to you, one lives in my sister’s meditation room in Toronto, and one lived on my late Mother’s living room couch in Montreal.

It’s a Joke; It Isn’t
We used to get a good laugh out of The Pillows, because they perfectly capture how the ladies of my family roll, always finding a way to keep on going with aplomb and resilience (including my Mother until she quietly died in her sleep, aged 99). There’s nothing funny about how we are all trying to Carry On today.

Flattening the Curve
As we all do our best to socially distance ourselves, self-isolate (or quarantine), and stay alert and mindful of potential germs, our screens become our world view. How much time are you spending these days looking at your many screens?

And thank goodness we have them! Because there’s an abundance of goodness, grace, beauty and heroism floating across those screens, along with the scary news.

What Each of Us Can do
Take exquisite care of ourselves, our families, our friends and our neighbors. Contribute to the greater good wherever our expertise lies. I am a communicator, and I take that responsibility seriously. I will be following up with some tips and techniques to improve your on-screen interactions, so everyone benefits.

In the Meantime
Please stay healthy and well. I’d like to leave you with a few lines from a lovely poem, one of many pieces of writing that have come across my screen and touched my heart.

From “Pandemic” by Lynn Ungar 3/11/20
Do not reach out your hands.
Reach out your heart.
Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils
of compassion that move, invisibly,
where we cannot touch.

There are many ways to touch. See you on the screens.
